In 1984, I bought a then new technological wonder; "The phone answering machine".

For the first time and in the comfort of my own home, a person could leave me a recorded message and it could be played back both locally and remotely. I thought this was so cool I decided there and then to never erase a message.

The machine worked from 1984 to 1996.
